lyrics
dig deep beneath
the sutures and the scenery
past you and me
and merciless machinery
dream and defeat
entropy, mortality
a love supreme
unanswerable mystery
prophet on a couch
mystic and a souse
forever haunt this house
I’ll never shout you down
to feel is free so preach the need
to be obscene - thesis complete
no god in your church
no damnation, all rebirth
for all we’re worth
we’ve got to live in this world first
the serum is in short supply
that makes a rise of our decline
all those who claim to know
dream only of control
divine dreams
the mind weaves
let time cease
to bind me
play on the white keys
tension, release
dig deep beneath
the decades and their decencies
where you and me
we’ll laugh at the absurdity
raise a glass to Uncle John
a prophet ‘til the liquor’s gone
beneath the watchful eye
of the all-seeing blind
the serum is in short supply
that makes a rise of our decline
all those who claim to know
dream only of control

Honestly, i typically recoil at electronic beats, but good lord is "Dead-Eyed God" a haunting, beautiful track! It's just delightful to see one of your favorite musicians expanding their palette with such confidence & taste. And of course there's still plenty of J's masterful & tasty guitar on this EP for those of us who can't get enough. ggoston
